When we moved into our current shop in Edinburgh back in 2009 we had a lot of work to get it up to scratch, especially as the previous tenants had done a pretty terrible job before us.
One of the jobs was tearing out this horrendous aqua blue fake wood paneling, but a short while after we started, we uncovered this wee gem.
It needed a lot of work but thanks to the expert plasterwork of @markburrows it’s now back to it’s former glory.
The mural depicts the fishing boat that was owned by the original owners of the shop, who were a family of fishmongers and the boat was named after the wife of the boss. It’s also been documented by Historic Scotland.
Always think it’s really important to try and preserve the good stuff, especially as we live in a world of overly corporate, identikit retail stores.
